ATLAS is partnering with United Community Action Partnership (UCAP) and we have been invited to their Poverty Simulation event on August 23rd. The ATLAS staff will be attending and we thought it would be a great experience for our mentors as well. The poverty simulation experience is designed to help participants begin to understand what it might be like to live in a typical low-income family trying to survive from month to month. The object is to sensitize participants to the realities faced by low-income people. In the simulation, up to 88 participants assume the roles of up to 26 different families facing poverty. By participating in this experience, it will remind us of the challenges our mentees and other community members may be facing. Another tool to further equip us as we help others follow Jesus. The Workshop is free but you must register in advance.
